This slow cooker recipe is ready in 4-6 hours.

    🥘 Ingredients

Beef roast: I love the chuck roast because it is affordable and think it is the best cut of beef to make shredded beef. It has good marbling, and shreds nicely. Other cuts you can use would be a shoulder roast

Beef broth: you want just enough broth to cover the roast, this makes it tender and juicy.

    Garlic powder

    Onion powder

    Paprika

    Black pepper

    Salt

Slow cooker: to cook the roast; I prefer a crock pot that also has a warm setting so when the recipe is done it will stay warm until serving time.

Small bowl: to combine the seasonings

Measuring cup: to measure the broth

    Forks: for shredding the beef

    🥫Storage

Refrigerate: store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 5 days.

Freeze: store beef in an airtight, freezer safe container up to 3 months.

    📖 Variations

    • Make mexican shredded beef and add 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning to the seasoning rub. Serve in taco shells with a squeeze of lime juice, pickled red onions, pico de gallo, and homemade guacamole.
    • Whisk 1 tablespoon tomato paste into the cooking liquid before returning shredded beef to the slow cooker.
    • Substitute ½ cup dry red wine for ½ cup beef broth.
    • Stud the roast with pieces of garlic cloves for extra flavorful beef.

    💭 Tips

    • When pulling the beef, be sure to remove and discard any excess fat chunks that were in the roast.
