    🙋 Recipe FAQ's

How do I know my crispy oven baked chicken wings are cooked through?

The chicken wings should have an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can I make breaded chicken wings in the oven?Yes, however, you'll want to coat the wings prior to baking.
Can I use the air fryer instead of baking to achieve these healthy crispy chicken wings?Yes, this recipe for boneless chicken wings are made in the air fryer!

    💭 Wing Tips

When making wings in the oven remember:

    • Use a high oven temperature. 400 degrees is perfect.
    • Do not let the wings crowd each other, leave a good amount of space between each wing to allow the hot air to surround it and crisp the chicken skin.
    • Use aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray to prevent a sticky mess on your cookie sheet.
Pouring the sauce over top of the cooked wings in a bowl.

    📖 Variations

    • Use equal parts Frank's Red Hot sauce and butter to make the best crispy baked buffalo wings!
    • Toss the wings in a dry rub like black pepper and lemon juice for delicious lemon pepper chicken wings!
    • Or toss them in your favorite wing sauce!

    🍽 Equipment

    Rimmed baking sheet

    Aluminum foil

    Tongs

    Large mixing bowl

    Small saucepan

A pile of crispy chicken wings on a white plate.

    🏫 What I've Learned

Deep frying might be one of the best ways to make a crisp skin on wings, but the disadvantage of deep frying is the mess it can make, and the hot grease is not that safe for those who are not used to deep frying. Instead, baking the wings at a high temperature key to getting extra crispy chicken wings without frying in hot oil.

    Serving Suggestions

These delicious crispy wings pair perfectly with blue cheese dressing or a side of this creamy homemade ranch dressing and a side of fresh-cut celery sticks.

    Storage

Store these crispy chicken wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat leftover wings, place them in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes, until warmed through and crisped up.

These are some of the best wings I've ever had. They are fall off the bone tender, crisp. And the sauce is a perfect blend of sweet and hot. If we rate on a five star scale, five being the best. I give these a seven!

I never used to be a wing fan -- but recently (within the last year) I've changed my mind. Now we'll do wings for dinner as a treat! These look great -- and I don't fry mine either -- just need a hot oven!
