Making green beans in the air fryer is a great alternative to roasting them in the oven. You get that same great roasted flavor that makes the perfect side dish to your favorite proteins.

    ❤️ Why you'll love it

Simple ingredients: this recipe uses frozen beans, seasoning, and almonds for added texture.

Healthy side dish: air fryer recipes make healthier options, are ready in minutes, and makes the perfect side dish to your favorite protein.

Low carb: these green beans are a great option for those following low carb keto diets.

Be sure to scroll to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post for ingredient amounts and instructions.

Frozen green beans: my favorite brand is Trader Joe's frozen string beans.

    Extra virgin olive oil

    Black Pepper

Garlic salt: I love the grinder garlic salt that I buy at Trader Joes, it has dried garlic and onion pieces, sea salt, and parsley.

Slivered almonds: I buy them already toasted almond slivers (without salt).

    🔪 Instructions

    1. Preheat air fryer at 400 degrees for 3 minutes.
    2. Place frozen greens in a large mixing bowl and add garlic salt, pepper, olive oil, and slivered almonds. Toss to coat completely.
    3. Place seasoned beans mixture on the air fryer trays (or in the air fryer basket) in a single layer and slide tray into preheated air fryer.
    4. Cook beans for 5 minutes. Remove tray and toss beans. Rotate trays and return to air fryer to cook another 8-10 minutes, until beans are crisp tender.

Use tongs to toss the ingredients together, coating completely with the olive oil.

    🥄 Equipment

    Air fryer

    Large bowl

    Tongs

    🥫Storage

Refrigerate: store leftover green beans in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days.

Freeze: I do not recommend freezing leftovers, basically because these started as a frozen product.

Reheat: the best way to reheat cooked green beans is to place them back in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 5-7 minutes, until hot. They can also be reheated in the microwave, on the stove top, or in the oven at 350 degrees until warmed.

    📖 Variations

Below are a few different ways to enjoy

    • Use fresh green beans in place of frozen. The beans will take a little longer to cook, so add about 3-4 minutes, testing for doneness periodically.
    • Substitute garlic powder, onion powder, and salt for the garlic salt.
    • Sprinkle green beans with dried parmesan cheese the last minute of air frying cook time.
    • Substitute your favorite seasonings for the garlic salt. You may like to try everything bagel seasoning, or another one of my favorites is the Trader Joe's umami seasoning with a touch of red pepper flakes.
    • Use melted butter instead of olive oil for the fat to add a different level of flavor.

    💭 Tips

    • Depending on your air fryer, you many need to make this recipe in batches. If using an air fryer with trays, divide the green beans up between the trays and rotate periodically while cooking.
    • Cooking time may vary depending on the size of the green beans you are using.
    • If you like crispy green beans, cook them a little longer in the air fryer. If this is the end result you are looking for, buy string beans that are longer and thinner.

    🙋 FAQ's

Can I make this green bean recipe in the oven instead of the air fryer?

Yes, just place the beans on a large baking sheet in a single layer and cook in the oven at 400 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes, stirring periodically, until beans are crisp tender.
