❤️ Why you'll love it
Recipe for One: this is a great go to recipe when there is just one or two people to feed.
Classic sandwich: this sandwich is packed with beefy cheesy goodness, just like the original Philly Cheesesteak!
Easy to customize: you can easily add your own favorite veggies or protein and make this sandwich your own.
🥘 Ingredients
Ciabatta bread or rolls: you need a firm sturdy bread, something with a good crust but still chewy and spongy in the center to soak up any broth.
Deli roast beef
Red bell pepper
Onion
Fresh garlic
Olive oil: to saute the veggies and garlic.
Rice vinegar: this will just be a splash, it deglazes the pan and adds a touch of acid.
Brown sugar: for just a touch of sweetness to balance out flavors.
Velveeta: I highly recommend using velveeta or an american cheese that melts easily.
🔪 Instructions
- Heat oil in small skillet. Cook peppers, onions, and garlic until vegetables are tender.
- Add vinegar, sugar, oregano, and cheese. Stir mixture and turn heat to simmer to let cheese slowly melt, stirring periodically.
- Once cheese is melted, remove from heat and set aside until ready to assemble sandwich.
- Meanwhile, toast bread in toaster oven until golden.
- Place roast beef and beef broth in microwave safe bowl. Microwave in two 30-second intervals.
- Using a fork, remove beef from broth and layer on bottom half of bun. Top beef with cheese pepper mixture and then cover with top bun half.
🥄 Equipment
Small skillet
Chef knife
Cutting board
Toaster oven
📖 Variations
- Substitute turkey for the roast beef.
- Use Monterey jack or colby jack cheese in place of velveeta.
💭 Tips
- If you don't have a toaster oven, toast the bread under the oven broiler or in the air fryer until golden.
- Once the cheese is added to the skillet, keep the burner on low setting and melt the cheese slowly to prevent burning.
