Ingredients and Substitution Ideas
While this recipe has instructions for making Italian Sausage links in the air fryer, you can use any listed below:
- Italian Sausage Links: choose mild, sweet, or hot, depending on your taste.
- Use chicken sausage instead of pork for a leaner option.
- Try bratwurst in place of Italian sausage for a different flavor.
- Swap in turkey sausage for a lighter option.

Ways to Serve Air Fryer Sausage
- Sausage and peppers: cook sliced bell peppers alongside the sausage for a classic combo.
- Breakfast style: use breakfast sausage links and serve with eggs and toast.
- Sausage hoagie: slice links and add to a toasted roll with onions and marinara.
Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Italian Sausage
- Preheat first: starting with a hot basket ensures the sausage browns quickly.
- Don't overcrowd: arrange links in a single layer for even cooking.
- Rest before serving: a few minutes on paper towels lets juices settle and keeps sausage from being greasy.

Storage and Reheating
Store cooked sausages in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350°F for about 4-5 minutes until warmed through.
