Boneless country style ribs: this is meat that comes from the pork shoulder and can easily be found right in the grocery store.

Barbecue sauce: use your favorite barbecue sauce, we love Sweet Baby Ray's.

    Garlic powder

    Onion powder

Creole seasoning: I highly recommend Tony Chachere's creole seasoning.

    Ground ginger

    Dried parsley

    Black pepper

Brown sugar: light or dark brown is fine, darker sugar will give a deeper flavor.

Chicken broth: use premade chicken broth, or make your own with a a cup of water and broth concentrate. I love caldo de pollo or better than bouillon chicken base.

    7. Turn the oven on broil setting.

    8. Using a bbq basting mop, coat the ribs with the remaining barbecue sauce.

    📖 Variations

    • Substitute apple juice or beef broth for the chicken broth
    • Add ½ teaspoon liquid smoke to the cooking liquid to boost flavor.
    • Change the spices to your favorite flavors, you may want to use chili powder in place of ground ginger to add a little bit of heat to the rub.

    💭 Tips

    • When mixing the spices and sugar, be sure there are no lumps of brown sugar remaining.
    • Make sure that you do a natural release, a quick release removes the pressure immediately letting out the steam that a natural release uses to continue cooking and tenderizing the meat.
    • Make your own homemade bbq sauce to glaze the ribs.

    🙋 FAQ's

    What are country style ribs?

A country style rib is meat that is taken from the fatty muscular section of the shoulder blade of the pig. Bone-in country style ribs usually means part of the shoulder blade is in the rib and not a rib bone.

Can I substitute spare ribs for boneless country ribs in this recipe?

I do not recommend doing so as spare ribs usually are a bone in rib and the cooking time will need to be different.
