There's nothing quite like a warm stack of pancakes topped with sweet syrup, and this homemade pancake syrup is just as good as store bought, if not better. It comes together in minutes with simple pantry staples and makes breakfast feel extra special!

I grew up in a small town where Sunday mornngs often meant a big family breakfast. Pancakes or waffles were always on the table, and this easy syrup was a staple my mom would make when we didn't have any of the real stuff in the refrigerator. It's quick, delicious, and has a nostalgic flavor that takes me right back.

Why You'll Love Homemade Pancake Syrup
Budget friendly: makes a big batch with simple pantry ingredients.
Quick to make: ready in less than 10 minutes with no complicated steps.
Customizable: adjust the flavor strength or sweetness to suit your taste.
Key Ingredients

- Dark brown sugar: gives the syrup a rich, caramel like flavor.
- Granulated sugar: balances sweetness and helps with consistency.
- Maple extract: brings that classic syrup flavor without needing pure maple syrup.
- Pinch of salt: rounds out the sweetness and deepens the flavor.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Light brown sugar can be used in place of dark brown sugar for a milder flavor.
- Honey makes a great swap for part of the sugar if you like a deeper sweetness.
- Vanilla extract can be used along with or in place of maple extract for a different twist.
Top Tips
- Stir constantly to prevent sugar from sticking to the bottom and burning.
- Don't skip the simmering step. It helps the syrup to thicken slightly.
- Allow the syrup to cool before storing to avoid condensation in the jar.

Storage and Reheating
Store cooled syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. To reheat, warm gently in the microwave or on the stovetop until pourable.
