🙋 Recipe FAQ's
Yes, you want to mix the waffle batter until it is just combined. Overmixing develops gluten and can cause the waffles to be tough.
The main difference is the amount of sugar and fat. Waffles will have more of each as these ingredients are what provides the golden brown color and crispness.
No. The waffles should not stick once they are golden brown. There is fat in the waffle giving it a natural release.
💭 Tips
- For a fluffier waffle, separate the egg yolks from the whites. Whisk the egg whites until stiff, then fold into the batter.
- Don't over mix the waffle batter, it is ok if there are a few lumps.
📖 Variations
- Stir ½ cup mini chocolate chips or blueberries into the waffle batter.
- Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the flour mixture.
- Add 1 scoop of protein powder in place of the flour for a protein boost.
