Thin and lightly spiced chicken cutlets are breaded and fried and served on a toasted bun with your favorite sauce and pickles

These Crispy Chicken Sandwiches are made with chicken cutlets that are skillet fried until crispy with a light spice coating. They are delicious served up on a toasted bun with hot sauce, blue cheese, and plenty of garlic dill pickles! Forget the chicken sandwiches at fast food restaurants. There is nothing tastier than your own homemade better than takeout fried chicken sandwich.

A buttery grilled bun adds a level of flavor, and the lightly spiced coating helps crisp up the chicken. And, if you are a lover of pickles (like we are) you don't have to worry that the "extra" pickles you request on your take out crispy chicken sandwich isn't enough!

A Crispy Chicken Sandwich You Won't Want To Stop Eating

The year 2020 has thrown upon us all, the need to cook most all of our meals at home. It hasn't been as easy as getting in your car and going out for dinner anymore. I know, you can go to McDonalds or Burger King and still get your favorite Crispy Chicken Sandwich to go. And, in some places you can even sit in the store if you want one bad enough.

But, you really don't have to because making them at home is super easy and quick. These also are great warmed up in the oven if you have leftovers. The coating might not be as crispy the second day, but I promise you it is just as delicious.

What You Need To Make This Recipe

Chicken Cutlets. I just grabbed a package of pre-cut chicken cutlets. However, if you want to save money, you can just buy the chicken breasts yourself and cut them into cutlets.

Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs or Panko. We used the breadcrumbs for the sandwiches you see in the photos. However, our preference is Panko. Whatever one you have on hand or prefer works just fine. Panko will make them even crispier.

Hot Sauce. This is our very favorite brand of hot sauce, and the only one I use. Grumpy loves it so much he puts it on everything!

Garlic Dill Pickles, and plenty of them! This family loves their pickles. If your not a fan of them, its ok, I won't judge you.

A sturdy hamburger bun. It's ok that it's called a hamburger bun, you can still use this for a chicken sandwich!

    Tips And Substitutions

    • If you have time, soak the chicken in the hot sauce and hot sauce mixture for an hour or two before cooking. This will allow the chicken to absorb some of the flavor.
    • Make sure the oil in the skillet is hot before you add the chicken to the pan. The chicken should sizzle when placed in the skillet. A medium high heat is best for making these spicy chicken sandwiches.
    • Skip the hot sauce and substitute your favorite barbecue sauce for the dipping mixture.
    • Use Panko in place of breadcrumbs, or if you do keto, use crushed pork rinds to coat the chicken cutlets.
    • Top the chicken sandwich with a chipotle dressing or homemade ranch dressing instead of the blue cheese.
    • Use mild pickled peppers or pickled jalapeno slices in place of the pickles.
