Christmas Crack is an easy recipe to make for the holiday season and is a delicious treat to make part of a holiday cookie plate.

    ❤️ Why you'll love it

Easy recipe: this salty treat is made with just a handful of ingredients and can be made in under 10 minutes

Holiday favorite: everyone loves this christmas cracker candy recipe and can't get enough of it

Salty sweet flavors: this candy has the perfect combination of salty sweet flavors

    Ingredients for Christmas Crack.
You need just a handful of ingredients to make this tasty candy.
Crackers on a jelly roll pan.
You will need 48 crackers (about ½ sleeve of saltines).
    Toffee mixture in saucepan.
The syrup needs to reach the soft crack stage (270 degrees F)
Toffee poured over saltine crackers on a jelly roll pan.
Spread the hot syrup mixture over the crackers (it will begin to harden quickly)

    🥘 Ingredients

Saltine crackers: I like to use the salted crackers but you can use unsalted if desired.

Salted butter: eliminates the need to add any salt to the toffee mixture.

Brown sugar: you can use either light or dark brown sugar. If using dark brown sugar, the toffee will have a deeper flavor.

Vanilla extract: added to enhance the flavor of the toffee

Semi-sweet chocolate chips: these are placed on top of the hot toffee and allowed to melt making it easy to spread.

Christmas holiday sprinkles: any variety or color sprinkles desired

Saltines on jelly roll pan with toffee and chocolate chips on top of toffee.
Place the chocolate chips on the hot toffee layer and allow them to sit there until chocolate begins to melt, then spread over top of the toffee.
Chocolate and a spreader on top of jelly roll pan.
Use an offset spatula to spread the chocolate once it has melted enough to be creamy.
Christmas Crack with chocolate spread over top and red, white, and green sprinkles.
Sprinkle the chocolate while it is still wet so the sprinkles will stick to the chocolate.
Christmas Crack that has been cut into pieces on the jelly roll pan.
A kitchen knife can be used to break the toffee into squares.

    🔪 Instructions

    1. Line a large jelly roll pan with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
    2. Fill the pan with crackers in a single layer, if you need to, break some crackers to fill in all the spaces. Set aside.
    3. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and vanilla, stirring to combine. Cook mixture until it reaches 270° f on a candy thermometer.
    4. Once temp is reached, remove from heat and pour toffee mixture over crackers on the baking sheet. Using an offset spatula, spread toffee mixture over every cracker.
    5. While toffee is still hot, top with chocolate chips and let sit for a few minutes, until chips have begun to melt down.
    6. Using an angled spreader, spread the melted chocolate over the toffee, covering the toffee and crackers. Immediately top the chocolate layer with holiday sprinkles.
    7. Place in fridge for 1 hour to fully harden the chocolate and toffee.
    8. Remove and break the cracker into random pieces or use a knife to cut the pieces evenly.

    🥄 Equipment

Medium saucepan: to make the toffee

Wooden spoon: to stir the toffee mixture

Jelly roll pan: you need a large pan, if you don't have one, you can use two smaller cookie sheets.

Parchment paper: to line the jelly roll pan

Candy thermometer: to monitor the temperature of the syrup.

Offset spatula: to spread the toffee and chocolate over the crakers.

Kitchen knife: used to help break the candy

    🥫Storage

Refrigerate: Store in an airtight container or in the fridge up to 1 week.

Freeze: Store in an airtight freezer safe container up to 3 months.
