    ❤️ Why you'll love it

✔️ It is a quick and delicious way to cook fresh asparagus and get the roasted flavor with less oil and just a few minutes of cooking time .

✔️ Air fried asparagus is naturally low carb and keto with just 2 net carbs per serving and 2 grams of dietary fiber per serving!

✔️ This recipe calls for simple ingredients, making it easy for you to season and flavor the asparagus to your own preference.

    🥘 Ingredients

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Fresh asparagus, medium sized stalks are the best.

Salt and Pepper, or any all purpose seasoning you like.

Olive oil cooking spray, to spray the air fryer basket or trays.

    Fresh asparagus spears.

    🔪 Instructions

    1. Preheat the air fryer on 400 on the air fry setting for 5 minutes.
    2. While the air fryer is preheating, wash the asparagus, then snap the woody ends off the bottom of the asparagus, setting aside the tender stalks for cooking and discarding the woody ends.
    3. Liberally spray the air fryer trays or air fryer basket with cooking spray. Spread the trimmed asparagus spears out on the tray in a single layer. Season with salt and pepper.
    4. Place in the air fryer and air fry asparagus for 3 minutes. Remove the tray from the air fryer and give it a little shake to turn the asparagus spears over. Return to the air fryer and allow asparagus to cook for another 5 minutes, until asparagus has started to crisp up and can be pierced easily with a fork.

    🥄 Equipment

    Air fryer

    Tongs

Uncooked asparagus in a single layer on an air fryer tray.

    🥫Storage

Store leftover air fried asparagus in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days.

    📖 Variations

Sprinkle the asparagus stalks with ¼ teaspoon garlic powder and ¼ teaspoon onion powder when seasoning.

Just prior to serving sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Toss the cooked spears with 2 teaspoons lemon juice and ½ teaspoon lemon zest.

    💭 Pro Tip

While you can use a sharp knife to cut the woody ends off the stalk of asparagus, I prefer to hold the the top and bottom of each stalk in my hands and then bend the stalk until it snaps, enduring there are no tough spears in the batch.

Cook time may vary depending on the thickness of your asparagus, so adjust accordingly. The asparagus used in this recipe was a thinner stalk.

    🏫 The last word

Simple vegetable side dishes are one of the most important parts of the meal (besides the main dishes!). Before I had an air fryer I didn't know what I was missing, but since owning one, I have used it every single day. It is excellent for making the perfect side dish, the hot air that circulates crisps up food, but also penetrates the thickness of meat, creating a delicious end result.
