These keto roasted radishes are my low carb answer to roasted potatoes. A little olive oil, a good shake of seasoning and about 30 minutes in a hot oven turns a bunch of radishes into an easy side dish. They're great next to bacon and eggs or alongside anything off the grill.
I was looking for a way to enjoy the flavor and texture of potatoes without all the carbs, so I decided to give radishes a try. Roasting takes the raw bite right out of them, and what's left comes very close to the flavor and texture of a potato.
Quick Summary
- Just 2 net carbs per serving, and a real stand-in for roasted potatoes.
- How to make them in the air fryer, and how I use them in place of potatoes in other recipes.
- A cheesy smash-and-bake version for when you want to change things up.

Key Ingredients
Radishes: I like to buy them with the greens still attached, because that's a good sign they're fresh.
Extra virgin olive oil: Just enough to coat the radishes before the seasoning goes on.
Trader Joe's Umami Seasoning: This is what I use to give them their savory flavor. It isn't always easy to find, so check the substitutions below if your store is out.
How to Make Keto Roasted Radishes
Heat the oven to 400°F. Put the radishes in a bowl and toss them with the olive oil, then sprinkle on the seasoning and toss again so every piece is coated.

Spread them out on a rimmed baking sheet and roast for about 30 minutes, until they're fork-tender and lightly browned.

Substitutions
If you can't find Trader Joe's Umami Seasoning, seasoned salt or a salt-free seasoning will work. 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon pepper, and ½ teaspoon smoked paprika are good too.
Variations
- Toss ¼ cup coarsely ground pork rinds with the radishes before cooking to add an extra crisp to the outer layer of the radishes.
- Once they're roasted, smash them, add a sprinkle of cheese and give them a second bake until the cheese is melted and starts to crisp.
A Few Tips
- Always wash and trim the radishes. I cut the root end off and make sure the top stalk is trimmed off as well. Once washed, pat the radishes dry.
- Cut the bigger radishes in half or quarters and leave the smaller ones uncut. Try to keep the radishes all similar in size before oven roasting them.
Storage
Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Yes, I've made them that way myself. Follow the same prep steps, then air fry at 400°F for about 10 minutes, tossing halfway through.
Absolutely. They go great in chowders and take the place of potatoes in home fries. You can also use them in soups and stews.
