Chipotle Spiced Fried Shrimp Cakes are a delicious, quick and easy recipe made with raw shrimp, spices, and seasoned panko breadcrumbs. They are fried til golden and ready to enjoy with Chipotle Salad Dressing and lemon slices.

These Shrimp Cakes are great for those nights when you weren't prepared for dinner and didn't have a protein thawed out. This entire recipe is ready in under 30 minutes and has so much flavor, you will wish you made a double batch!

    Family Dinner Made Easy

My son had wanted to make shrimp cakes for some time now. So, after they moved in with us, and he had a day off, I asked him if he wanted to be responsible for making dinner one evening. He found some shrimp in the freezer and made a version of this shrimp cake recipe.

They were so delicious, that hubby commented that he could have eaten twice as much as he had! So, we made them again so I could share the recipe with my readers. This is probably one of our new favorite go to meals when we don't know what to make!

    Tips and Substitutions

    • Buy shrimp that is already peeled and deveined to save prep time.
    • If the shrimp is frozen, run it under cold water in a colander until it has thawed.
    • Swap red chili powder for the chipotle powder.
    • Use lime zest instead of lemon zest.

How to make Keto Shrimp Cakes

This is a recipe that is super simple to modify for the keto diet. Everything in this shrimp cake recipe is keto friendly except for the panko bread crumbs. Follow one of the suggestions below to make it keto friendly.

    • Eliminate the panko and add ½ cup coconut flour and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.
    • Use pork rinds in place of the bread crumbs. You may need to stir in more than a 1:1 ration. I would start with ¾ cup and add to it if needed to make the cakes easy to shape.

My preference for this particular recipe is the coconut flour. Coconut flour has binding properties that pork rinds do not.
