All purpose flour
All-purpose seasoning: this can be salt and black pepper, seasoned salt, garlic powder, or old bay seasoning.
Jumbo shrimp: choose fresh shrimp that has been peeled and deveined.
Large eggs
Panko breadcrumbs
Oil: use an oil that has a high smoke point such as peanut oil or canola oil.
Lemon wedges
๐ช How To Make Crispy Shrimp
- Heat oil in a large skillet or dutch oven until oil temperature reaches 350 degrees.
- Add the flour and seasoning to a small bowl and stir to combine.
- In a large bowl, add the eggs and whisk until well combined.
- Add the panko crumbs to a third bowl and set aside.
- Coat each raw shrimp with the seasoned flour mixture, then dip it in the egg mixture. Make sure the egg covers the flour coated shrimp.
- Gently roll flour coated shrimp in the breadcrumbs. Place on a large baking sheet and repeat with remaining shrimp.
- Fry the shrimp in a single layer in hot oil in batches of 5 or 6 shrimp are golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes. Repeat this process until all of the shrimp have been fried.
- Line another baking sheet with paper towels and set aside. Place the fried shrimp on paper towel lined baking sheet to drain any excess oil.
