A quick and easy lunch idea with just a few simple ingredients and easy steps to make this pizza toast.

    ❤️ Why you'll love it

Easy recipe: it doesn't get any easier than these

Quick lunch: this recipe makes a quick lunch and perfect for those who love pizza.

Kid friendly: not only will kids love this easy pizza toast recipe, so will the whole family!

    Ingredients for pizza toast.
Look for a thick cut sturdy bread to use for this pizza toast recipe as you need something that will hold up well to the toppings.

    🥘 Ingredients

Toasted Bread: be sure to buy bread that is sturdy and thick so it will hold up to the pizza sauce and toppings.

Pizza sauce: I love this homemade pizza sauce recipe

Mozzarella cheese: I like to use part-skim mozzarella

Pepperoni: I prefer turkey pepperoni over regular pepperoni because it has less grease.

Fresh basil: optional but adds a touch of freshness and flavor.

Ingredients ready for assembly of the toast.
First toast the bread to prevent the sauce from making it soggy.
Tomato sauce layer on toasted bread.
1-2 tablespoons of sauce as per your preference.
    The shredded mozzarella cheese layer.
    Pre-shredded mozzarella works best here.
Step 5 of assembling the open faced sandwich.
I like turkey pepperoni, but mini pepperoni would be excellent on this pizza toast as well.
Just 4 simple steps to make an easy lunch!

    🔪 Instructions

    1. Place a slice of toast on an air fryer tray. Spread 1-2 tablespoons pizza sauce on each slice of toast.
    2. Sprinkle ¼ cup of cheese on top of pizza sauce.
    3. Arrange each slice of toast with pepperoni, if desired.
    4. Place tray in air fryer and air fry for 5 minutes, until cheese is melted and beginning to brown.
    5. Remove pizza toasts from air fryer and sprinkle with fresh basil (if using).

    🥄 Equipment

Air fryer, oven, or toaster oven

Tablespoon: for spreading the sauce over top of the toasted bread.

One slice of pizza toast with melty cheese and golden brown edges.

    🥫Storage

Refrigerate: store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days.

Reheat: warm in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes, until warm.

    📖 Variations

    • You can substitute an English muffin, sourdough bread, french bread, or focaccia bread for the bread slices.
    • Use mini pepperoni to allow room for more of your favorite toppings.
    • Sprinkle pizza toast with crushed red pepper or grated parmesan cheese before serving.
Two slices of pizza toast on a wooden board.

    💭 Tips

    • Bake these pizza toasts in the oven or toaster oven instead of the air fryer, just lightly toast the bread in the toaster, then place on a baking sheet with toppings and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, or until cheese has melted and edges of toast are golden brown.
