A spicy sweet margarita with muddled fresh pineapple and jalapeno for a sweet heat kick.

This Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita is a combination of sweet and spicy flavors made with fresh muddled pineapple, jalapeno slices, pineapple juice, and tequila. And, the sweet black pepper rim on the margarita adds another level of flavors.

I love to make this boozy beverage for our Mexican themed nights along with my families favorite Cheese Enchiladas, Roasted Shrimp Enchiladas, or Sweet and Spicy Pulled Pork Tacos recipe.

A Pineapple Margarita With A Spicy Twist

The first time I ever had a Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita was at Bonefish Grill in North Carolina. We went to dinner with my youngest son the night of our arrival and when I saw it was pineapple and jalapeno flavors I knew I had to try it. I was addicted from that moment on.

I had it again when I happened to be in New Jersey, at yet again, Bonefish Grill. When I was there I asked the bartender what the spicy ingredient was on the rim of the glass. He told me it was a jalapeno powder. I always intended to find and buy it, but never did. So, I did the next best thing I could think of instead!

I also love sweet black pepper bacon that you can buy at Dunkin Donuts and have recreated those flavors in other recipes. Two of my favorites are these Keto Sweet Black Pepper Cheese Puffs and even was inspired to make a Sweet Black Pepper Whole Beef Tenderloin recipe.

The sweet black pepper rim on the margarita was an awesome compliment to the pineapple jalapeno margarita, so I highly recommend you don't skip out on it.

Ingredient lined up to make the beverage.

What You Need To Make Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita

Fresh Pineapple, don't skip fresh. You won't be able to muddle canned pineapple and get the same results. I recommend buying a whole pineapple and cut your own.

Fresh Jalapeno, you won't need the whole jalapeno. I recommend making these Spicy Black Bean Burgers with leftover jalapeno.

Black Pepper, freshly ground that is a little bit coarse is great if you love pepper. If not, regular ground black pepper is good.

Granulated Sugar, this is used to mix with the pepper and rim the glass.

Pineapple Juice I love to use these individual sized serving juice cans as you don't need much pineapple juice.

Lime Juice, I highly recommend freshly squeezed lime juice for this drink.

Tequila, I used a silver tequila for this recipe.

Triple Sec, an orange flavored liquor.

Muddler, I recommend a wooden muddler.

Cocktail Shaker or a quart sized glass jar with a lid

Strainer to strain the muddled pineapple and jalapeno.

Dipping the glass rim in the sweet black pepper.

    Tips and Substitutions

    • No Cocktail Shaker? No Problem! Use a quart sized jar with a lid and shake! Just be sure to strain the muddled pineapple and jalapeno before pouring.
    • Try this jalapeno powder mixed with the sugar in place of the black pepper to rim the glass.
    • Rim with just sugar and no pepper.
    • If you prefer a salt rim, skip the sugar and pepper.
    • Be sure to strain the muddled fruit before pouring the margarita.
