    Butter burgers are flavorful juicy beef patties basted with butter, topped with cheese and sandwiched between toasted buns. It it is a low carb recipe that is perfect for those on the keto diet.

    🥘 Ingredients

    Ground beef, I prefer to use ground chuck

    Hamburger buns, I like to use these keto burger buns, but non keto peeps can use a regular kaiser roll.

    Cheese slices, American cheese or pepper jack melts best.

    Onion

    Butter, using real butter is important as that is where the flavor is coming from.

    Umami seasoning (or salt and black pepper)

    The keto burger buns are fried in the butter left in the skillet after cooking the hamburgers, adding even more flavor and texture.

    🔪 Instructions

    1. Shape ground beef into 4 large burger patties. Place in the refrigerator and chill while the onions are cooking.
    2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the raw onions and cook, stirring often, for 5 minutes, until onions are translucent.
    3. Using a slotted spoon, remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
    4. Place the burger patties in the skillet over medium-high heat and cook for 3 minutes on each side, placing ½ slice of cheese on top of each burger a short while before meat reaches desired level of doneness.

    🥫Storage

    Store leftovers in an airtight container up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave for 1-½ minutes until warm.

    📖 Variations

    • For extra flavor, cook the hamburgers on a charcoal grill.
    • Top with any of your favorite toppings.
    • Take the burgers to another level of flavor top with caramelized onion instead of sauteed.

    💭 Tips

    • If you want to be precise on the burger size, use a scale to weigh each patty. Each patty should weigh ¼ pound each before cooking.
