Boneless chicken thighs: you can use either skin-on chicken thighs or remove the chicken skin.
Shoyu sauce: this is a Japanese-style soy sauce
Fresh ginger root
Ground black pepper
Crushed red pepper flakes , (Optional)
Cayenne pepper , (Optional)
Ground paprika , (Optional)
Green onions
🔪 Instructions
- In a large bowl, using a hand whisk, mix together the shoyu sauce, brown sugar, onion, garlic, ginger, pepper, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), cayenne pepper (if using), and paprika (if using).
- Add the chicken pieces to the soy sauce mixture and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
- Preheat a grill to medium heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place on the hot grill. Discard marinade.
- Grill chicken for 15 minutes on each side, until an instant-read thermometer registers 165 degrees F.
- Remove chicken from grill and let rest on serving platter for 10 minutes before serving.

Freeze: store leftovers in a freezer safe, airtight container up to 3 months.
Reheat: warm thawed chicken on the grill or in the microwave until heated through.

- Place chicken and marinade in the slow cooker and cook on high for 2-3 hours or low for 6 hours.
💭 Tips
- If using bone-in chicken thighs, be sure to purchase a higher meat weight (about 3 pounds) to accomodate for the weight of the bone.
- For best results, if possible, cook the chicken on a hot grill. A grill pan can be used if there are no other options.
