    Center-cut Pork Chops

    Garlic powder

    Ghee

    Olive oil

    Fresh garlic cloves

    Honey

    Chicken broth

    Unseasoned rice vinegar

Two cooked honey garlic pork chops in a cast iron skillet.

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the broiler.
    2. Season the boneless chops with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
    3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
    4. Sear the pork chops on both sides 4 minutes, or until golden and the internal temperature of the pork has reached 145 degrees. Transfer the pork chops to a plate and set aside.
    5. Reduce the burner to medium heat. Add the ghee to the same pan, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
    6. Add the garlic cloves and sauté for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
    7. Add the honey, water, red pepper flakes, and vinegar to the pan. Increase the heat to medium-high and cook stirring occasionally, for couple of minutes, or until the sauce has reduced and thickened.
    8. Return the pork chops back to the pan and baste with the pan sauce.
    9. Place the pork chops in the oven and broil for 1 minute, or until edges are slightly charred and color is golden brown.
    10. Garnish with chopped cilantro if using.

    💭 Tips

    • Preheat the skillet and sure it is hot enough to sear and brown the pork chops.
    • Use the olive oil to brown the pork chops. The ghee is for the sauce, it will not work as well as the olive oil for browning.
    • Pay attention to the cooking time and don't overcook the pork chops recipe. Doing so may cause a dry piece of meat.

    📖 Variations

    • Substitute the honey for a keto-friendly honey substitute, or sugar-free maple syrup to make this a keto pork chop dinner.
    • Add a light coating of flour or cornstarch on the outside of the pork chop before frying for an extra crispy coating.
    • Add a squirt of sriracha sauce or dash or two of cayenne pepper to the honey sauce for a spicy honey garlic pork chop recipe.

    🍽 Equipment

    Cast-iron skillet

    Hand whisk

    Wooden spatula

    Tongs
