    🙋 Recipe FAQ's

Should I refrigerate or freeze candied nuts?

It is best to store candied nuts in an airtight container at room temperature. Refrigerating or freezing can cause moisture which can turn the crunchy nuts soggy.

What is the best nut to make candied nuts with?

Any raw nut is best as they will roast when they are in the oven with the sugared coating.

    💭 Tips

    • Start with raw nuts as they will roast when they are baked in the oven with the spice and sweetener.
    • Use a granulated sugar substitute like classic monkfruit or erythritol.
    • Stir the nut mixture often when roasting to prevent burning as well as while cooling to prevent the nuts from sticking together.
Stirring together the nuts and syrup in a mixing bowl.

    📖 Variations

    • Use a combination of cashews, macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds, and any other of your favorite nuts and seeds that fit the keto or paleo diet.
    • If paleo, substitute maple syrup or coconut sugar for the sugar-free sweetener.
    • Add ½ teaspoon of chili powder or cayenne pepper to add a little bit of heat to contrast the sweet.

Why do you say dark chocolate and the recipe calls for semisweet chocolate?

Hi Lynne, I'm not sure what recipe you are looking at. This recipe for Chai Spiced Candied Nuts does not call for chocolate.
