    Air Fryer Biscuits

    Making biscuits in the air fryer produces a tender flaky biscuit with crispy browned bits on the outside and it takes less time than baking them in the oven. A perfect side for breakfast or use to make strawberry shortcake.

    These soft and tender air fryer biscuits are so easy to make and come out perfectly golden brown with crispy buttery edges. They are a delicious side dish for breakfast or with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert!

    All purpose flour

    Baking powder, aids in the biscuit rise.

    Granulated sugar and salt, to balance out the flavors.

    Unsalted butter, should be kept as cold as possible.

    Buttermilk, should be kept as cold as possible.

    Cheese (optional)

    Mixed biscuit dough.
    Don't overwork the dough or you will have tough biscuits. The dough should be shaggy before turning out onto a floured surface.

    Lightly pat the dough out until it is about ½-34 inch thick.

    Using a round biscuit cutter, cut the dough into 12 portions.

    Brushing the top of the dough with a little bit of butter helps make these golden brown and buttery!

    🔪 Instructions

    1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Stir in the shredded butter and using a pastry blender, work the butter into the flour mixture.
    2. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, then stir the buttermilk and milk into the flour mixture, stirring until dough begins to form. Add cheese (if using). Do not overmix the dough.
    3. Sprinkle a hard dry surface with flour. Transfer the biscuit dough to the floured surface and pat dough out into a rectangle. Fold dough in half and pat down until dough is about ½ inch thick.
    4. Cut biscuits using a round biscuit cutter or using a pastry cutter, cut into 12 equal squares.
    5. Transfer biscuits air fryer basket in a single layer and brush tops with melted butter. Depending on the size of the air fryer, you may need to bake the biscuits in two batches.
    6. Place basket in the air fryer and cook at 390 for 9 minutes, or biscuit is puffed and tops are golden brown.

    Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container on the counter up to 5 days or in the freezer up to 3 months. They can be reheated in the air fryer for 2 minutes to warm them back up before eating.

    Biscuit dough can be frozen and stored in an airtight container in the freezer. To cook frozen biscuits, remove desired number from the freezer and place in the air fryer.

    📖 Variations

    • Use any of your favorite cheeses to add flavor to the biscuits.
    • Sprinkle a little coarse sugar on top of the biscuits after brushing with butter and before baking.
    • Spray tops of biscuits with butter flavored non stick cooking spray instead of brushing with butter.
    • Substitute self rising flour for the all purpose flour and eliminate the baking powder and salt.

    💭 Tips

    • All ingredients must be cold in for the best results.
    • Shed cold butter with a cheese grater then freeze butter up to 30 minutes before using.
    • If you don't have buttermilk, add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to cup measure, then add regular milk. Allow to set for 5 minutes to allow the milk to curdle.

    Yes, place frozen biscuits in the air fryer oven, brush with butter or spray with cooking spray and bake at 340 degrees fahrenheit for 10 minutes, or until golden. Time may vary depending on the air fryer.

    Yes, place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake biscuits at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes, or until golden.
