Garlic bread is one of those recipes that never goes out of style, and this cheesy garlic bread is a family favorite. It's golden, buttery, and topped with gooey melted cheese that makes every bite irresistible.

I've been making this garlic bread version for years, and it's always the first thing gone at dinner. It pairs beautifully with pasta, soups, or even as a snack all on it's own. Easy to make with a whole loaf of Italian Bread, this is an easy bread recipe you will want to keep in rotation.

Why You'll Love This Recipe
Simple prep: just a few ingredients and a loaf of bread.
Cheesy goodness: the mozzarella and Parmesan create the perfect topping.
Crowd pleaser: everyone grabs a slice, and it disappears fast.
Versatile side: works with pasta, soups, or grilled meats.
Key Ingredients for Garlic Bread with Cheese
See recipe card below for full list of ingredients and instructions.
- Italian bread: sturdy and perfect for holding all the toppings.
- Butter: softened so it spreads evenly across the loaf.
- Garlic: fresh or jarred, it gives that signature flavor.
- Parmesan cheese: adds a salty, nutty bite.
- Mozzarella cheese: melts into gooey, stretchy perfection.
- Oregano: a light sprinkle brings in that classic Italian touch.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Use French bread instead of Italian bread for a lighter texture.
- Swap mozzarella with provolone for a stronger flavor.
- Try olive oil instead of butter for a different richness.
Variations on Cheesy Garlic Bread
- Spicy kick: add red pepper flakes before baking or drizzle with a little bit of chili crisp prior to serving.
- Herb lovers: mix basil or parsley with the butter.
- Loaded version: top with cooked bacon bits or pepperoni.

Tips for the Best Garlic Bread
- Spread evenly: make sure the butter mixture coats the bread from edge to edge.
- Freshly grated cheese: melts better and has more flavor.
- Watch the broiler: cheese can go from golden to burnt quickly, so keep a close eye.
How to Store
