These M&M Cake Mix Brownies are rich, chewy, and packed with chocolate in every bite. Made in a simple 9x9 pan, they're the kind of dessert that disappears fast at parties and potlucks.

I love recipes like this when I need something dependable and indulgent without a lot of fuss. Using a boxed cake mix keeps things easy, but the buttery brownie texture makes them taste like you spent far more time in the kitchen.

Why You'll Love Cake Mix Brownies
Deep chocolate flavor from Devil's food cake mix and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Soft centers with set edges for that classic brownie bar texture.
Crowd favorite that's easy to transport and serve for gatherings.
Key Ingredients for Easy Brownie Bars
See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and instructions.

- Devil's Food Cake Mix: creates a rich chocolate base with minimal effort.
- Salted butter: adds flavor and gives the brownies their chewy texture.
- Eggs: help bind the batter and keep the centers soft.
- Chocolate chips: melt into the brownies for extra chocolate pockets.
- Mini M&M's add crunch, color, and a fun candy finish.
Ingredient Substitutions
- Use unsalted butter and add a pinch of salt if that's what you have on hand.
- Swap milk chocolate chips for semi-sweet if you prefer a sweeter brownie.
- Replace mini M&M's with regular M&M's, roughly chopped.

Variations on Cake Mix Brownies with Chocolate
- Nutty crunch: stir in chopped walnuts or pecans for added texture.
- Cake mix swap: use any chocolate cake mix you like, it will change the sweetness and intensity slightly, so choose one that fits your crowd's taste.
- Seasonal swap: use holiday-colored M&M's to match the occasion.
Tips for the Best Fudgy Brownies
- Do not overbake - the center should look slightly underdone with set edges when you pull them out.
- Line the pan with parchment paper for easy lifting and clean slices.
- Cool completely before cutting to keep the bars neat and intact.

How to Store
Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-5 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For a warm treat, reheat individual squares in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
