    🥑 Avocado Dessert Recipe

Avocado is usually thought of as an ingredient to enjoy in a savory recipe such as guacamole, or as a topping to tacos. When it comes to dessert, it is not an ingredient that many would consider using in a sweet recipe.

However, using it in a dessert recipe is actually a great idea. It is full of fiber and good for you fats, making it one fruit that you shouldn't avoid.

The avocado allows this recipe to become a no cook recipe. So, it is ready to enjoy in just minutes!

An avocado cut in half with the brown pit still inside one half and the half without the pit behind it with 2 whole avocados in the background on a wooden cutting board.

    🥘 Ingredients

Avocado, this is what gives this chocolate pudding a rich creamy and indulgent feel, and you can barely taste the avocado!

Maple Syrup, use any grade syrup you like, or use a sugar-free maple syrup product.

Dutch Process Cocoa Powder, this is a deep dark chocolate that is more mellow in flavor and dissolves easier in liquids than regular cocoa powder.

Fresh orange juice squeezed from a oranges. We used a cara cara orange for this particular recipe, but any type of orange can be used.

    Almond Milk

    Fresh Raspberries

Non-Dairy Whipping Cream, this can be bought in an aerosol can in the dairy section of the grocery store.

    🍽 Equipment

    Wooden Citrus Reamer

    Magic Bullet

Strainer (for the orange juice pulp)

Glass measuring cups, I use these to place the strainer over top of and juice the orange into it. (see video)

    🔪 Instructions

    Step 1:

    1. Add the avocado flesh, maple syrup, cocoa powder, orange juice, vanilla, almond milk, and salt to the cup of a nutribullet or blender
    2. Pulse a few times until the pudding begins to come together. Process 1 to 2 minutes until the avocado is completely pureed, and the mixture is smooth.

    Step 2:

    1. Divide the chocolate avocado pudding between 3 small bowls. Cover with plastic film, and chill for at least 2 hours, until the pudding is set.
    2. To serve, top with whipped cream and 3 raspberries per bowl.

    💭 Top tip

    • Be sure to scrape the sides of the blender down often to ensure all of the ingredients are blended together smoothly.
    • Refrigerate the pudding overnight to allow the flavors to develop.
    • Push the avocado through a ricer or sieve before blending to aid in a smooth blend.

    📖 Variations

    • Make this chocolate avocado pudding keto by subbing sugar free maple syrup.
    • Use honey (no longer vegan if honey is used) in place of the maple syrup.
    • Substitute cashew, coconut, or oat milk for the almond milk.
    • Sprinkle the top of the finished recipe with chocolate chips and toasted coconut.
    • Add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the avocado mixture before blending.
    • Boost the chocolate flavor by adding a shot of espresso to the mixture before blending.
    • Omit the whipped topping and sprinkle lightly with sea salt and blueberries.
    • Lightly sprinkle the top of the whipped topping with a pinch of cayenne pepper.
