This Air Fryer Teriyaki Salmon recipe features tender salmon fillets coated in a homemade teriyaki glaze, then air fried until perfectly flaky with caramelized edges. It's a fast, flavorful dish ideal for busy nights or entertaining.
In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of cold water to create a slurry. Set aside.
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, the remaining water, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey, and brown sugar.
Place saucepan over medium heat and whisk the mixture until the sugar has dissolved and starts to thicken.
Add the cornstarch slurry to the saucepan and whisk continuously until the sauce thickens to a glossy consistency. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
Remove the teriyaki sauce from heat and set it aside to cool.
Marinate the Salmon:
Place the salmon filets in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag.
Pour the cooled teriyaki sauce over the salmon. Make sure the salmon is well coated.
Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for 15 minutes (or up to 1 hour) to allow the salmon to marinate.
Air Fry the Salmon:
Remove the marinated salmon from the refrigerator and place salmon skin side down in an air fryer safe dish or a parchment paper lined air fryer basket.
Air fry salmon for 12 minutes at 390℉, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. The salmon should be flaky and cooked through.
To caramelize, brush teriyaki sauce over the salmon fillets while salmon cooks during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking time.
Garnish and Serve:
Once the salmon is done, carefully remove from the air fryer.
Sprinkle sesame seeds and thinly sliced scitallions on top of the salmon for added flavor and presentation.
Serve air fryer teriyaki salmon hot over a bed of steamed white rice or with your favorite side dishes.
