Place butter in baking dish and put dish in oven while it preheats to melt the butter.
Once butter is melted remove baking dish. Add brown sugar to melted butter and stir to combine. Using the back of a spoon, spread sugar mixture over bottom of baking dish to coat completely. Set aside.
In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
Unroll crescent roll dough and using a rolling pin, roll dough out slightly into a uniform rectangle shape.
Place remaining butter In a microwave safe small bowl, melt butter in the microwave.for 30 seconds.
Using a silicone pastry brush, spread each roll with ½ of the melted butter. In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Lightly sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over top of each crescent roll dough.
Roll dough jelly-roll style, rolling long side up and pinching seams to close along the length of the log of dough. Cut rolled dough with a sharp knife (or dental floss trick - see tips) into 1 inch slices and place in baking pan over top of sugar butter mixture. Place in oven and bake for 25 minutes.until rolls are golden brown.
Serve warm or remove from dish with bottom side up and allow to cool completely before storing.
