Homemade Salisbury Steak patties made with lean ground beef are simmered on the stove top with a mushroom onion gravy for a classic comfort food meal the entire family will enjoy.
In a large bowl combine onion, pepper, salt, garlic, and ground beef. Shape meat mixture into 4 (½-inch-thick) oval patties.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Coat with cooking spray and add patties, cooking for 3 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Melt butter in same large skillet. Add mushrooms and sauté 4 minutes, until softened and water has released. Stir in red wine and cook 2 minutes.
In a large measuring cup, combine beef broth and flour. Add to skillet, whisking constantly, bringing the gravy to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer 10 minutes or until gravy has thickened and beef is cooked thru.
Add salisbury steak patties and vinegar to the to gravy mixture and cook 2 minutes longer. Serve hot.
