Combine flour and shortening in a large bowl.
Dissolve the salt in the water and pour ⅔ cup of the salt water over top of the flour mixture.
Divide dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece of dough into a smooth ball.
To cook, lay the first tortilla on the hot griddle and cook 30-45 seconds each side.
Remove and wrap in a clean kitchen towel. Repeat and stack tortillas.
