Do you find yourself afraid of making a beef roast or maybe the only way you’ve ever dared to make a beef roast was as a pot roast in one of those bags? You know what I’m talking about! That was me. I never made a roast of any kind. That is, until I became acquainted with Certified Angus Beef and their new appRoast Perfect and gained access to some very accurate Holiday Roasting tips!
I made the Sirloin Roast with Red Wine Onion Gravy that I posted about a few weeks ago. My experience with this particular roast along with my recent trip to visit Certified Angus Beef has taken that trepidation away. Thanks to the #RoastPerfect app, my family is being treated to Prime Rib this weekend. Now I would say that’s feeling quite confident, wouldn’t you? I’m also pretty stoked that my roast is now a featured blog on the app!
A few weeks ago I was a guest at an awesome learning event with Certified Angus Beef and 19 other bloggers with the Sunday Supper Family. I was overwhelmed by the genuine interest and hospitality as well as all the beefy goodness presented to us! I learned so much at this event that I felt I wouldn’t be doing them service by not sharing with you so today I want to bring to you some things that I felt were extremely helpful to me in my experience and what I plan to use going forward when thinking about beef in general as well as roasting.
One of our first lessons was classroom style, with a big screen slide show! We learned about beef, the Certified Angus Beef farmers, cuts of meat, marbling and grading.
At the “Meat Lab”, Chef Ashley and Chef Michael demonstrated the different cuts of roasts. We watched them cut the roast as they discussed with us what they were doing along the way and how they were cutting the roasts. Chef Michael also tied a roast with us and explained that this was done when the roast was not consistent in size and tying it helps the roast to cook evenly.
We had plenty of photography opportunities. This is my friend Marion from Life Tastes Good grabbing a shot of the cut roasts!
We learned about Beef Photography and Food Styling
The different degrees of “done-ness”.
About rubs, flavoring and sauces!
Mark did a photography session with us showing his process for taking amazing photos!
This year, why don’t you decide to make a roast for your holiday table? Go download the #RoastPerfect app and make some beefy goodness for your family holiday meal this year. Certified Angus Beef has made it so easy for you and if you use this app, you will not go wrong!
I downloaded the app on my iPhone (Also available on your Android products)
We made some great friends and were treated to all kinds of beef and other goodies on this journey! I took so many photos that I know your probably getting photo overload in this post, but I feel the need to share! Please scroll and enjoy and watch for another post coming from me soon about my Standing Rib Roast I am making this weekend!
Be sure to follow me on all my social media channels to see what I’m sharing!
